| For years I tried everything I could to quit smoking. I tried nicotine gum, nicotine patches, going cold turkey, cutting down, etc. I would quit for a day, a week, a month, even a year once, then I would to revert to old habits and start smoking again. I even went to two local hypnotists to try to quit. Even though I could see the potential of hypnosis, it still didn't work for me! I was fascinated and began studying both hypnosis and NLP (Neuro linguistic programming). I got my advanced certification through the National Guild of Hypnotists and my Master's certification from the National Board of Professional and Ethical Standards. I developed my own stop smoking programs, utilized them on myself, and became my first success! I started using my smoking programs with clients and the next thing I knew, doctors were sending their patients to see me! One of the most important things I learned was I couldn't quit smoking because smoking was fulfilling a need for me. If I could find another way to meet the need, or change the subconscious perception of the need I could change the habit. It is the same way with everyone who reverts to the old ways of doing things. The reasons they feel the way they do, and the reasons they fall back on old habits, are because they are meeting needs in the subconscious. Hypnosis gently changes the subconscious view of the need.
